Electrician in Titirangi

Registered West Auckland electricians for Titirangi’s bush homes, steep sections and the village

We’re Totally Amped Electrical, registered West Auckland electricians who’ve been wiring and rewiring homes since 2009. Titirangi is well within our patch: a bush-clad village on the southern edge of the Waitākere Ranges, where homes sit tucked into native forest on steep sections. From our Waitākere base we head out along Waitākere Road and Candia Road, over the ranges and down into Titirangi in around 25 minutes, and it’s exactly the kind of bush-section work we know well.

Why Titirangi Chooses Us

Why Titirangi Locals Choose Us

Titirangi isn’t a flat suburb with the meter box three steps from the kerb. Homes here are built into the bush, often well below or above the road, on steep sections reached by long paths and even longer cable runs. That changes how you wire and fix things, and it’s the first reason an electrician who actually works the ranges beats a town firm guessing at it.

The houses are a real mix, too. Mid-century homes, baches that have grown up over the years, and a lot of architecturally designed places built to sit in the rainforest. One needs an old switchboard and tired wiring brought up to date. The next needs feature lighting and smart wiring done sympathetically. We’re across both.

We’re EWRB-registered (the Electrical Workers Registration Board, which licenses sparkies in New Zealand), fully insured, and where a job needs it you get a Certificate of Compliance. We tell you in plain English what we found and what it needs. No jargon, no pressure.

Areas We Cover

Neighbourhoods We Serve in Titirangi

We cover the whole suburb, village to coast to bush.

  • Titirangi village. The shops and the arts hub around Lopdell House and Te Uru gallery, up by the roundabout on Titirangi Road.
  • French Bay and Titirangi Beach. The homes and baches down toward the Manukau Harbour edge.
  • The bush hillsides. The steep, forested streets running toward Woodlands Park, where houses are tucked into native bush.
  • South toward Laingholm. The bush-edge homes on the way down to the coast.
  • The Glen Eden border. Where the bush meets the suburb on the eastern side.
  • The Scenic Drive ridge. The properties strung along the top of the range.

Down a steep drive with the house below the road, or up on the ridge in the trees, it’s all the same to us. We come to you.

What We Do

Services We Provide in Titirangi

Bush home, village flat or architect build, most of what Titirangi needs is what we’re on every week:

Worth Knowing

Electrical Considerations for Titirangi Homes

Living in the bush is its own thing, and so is the wiring.

Steep sections and long runs. A lot of Titirangi homes sit well off the road, down a bank or up in the trees. Power has to be run a long way and protected for the distance, and access for the work takes planning. It’s normal for us, but it’s not a quick town job.

Bush damp and harbour salt. Homes sit in native forest, and the Manukau coast at French Bay adds salt to the mix. Both are hard on outdoor power points, fittings and connections, so weatherproof, corrosion-resistant gear earns its keep here. WorkSafe’s guidance on safe living with electricity is a good read on why safety switches matter on those outdoor circuits.

Power reliability. Out in the bush a feed can drop in a storm, so surge protection and, on some properties, backup power are worth planning for, especially if there’s a pump keeping the water going.

The Heritage Area. Titirangi sits inside the Waitākere Ranges Heritage Area, looked after by the Waitākere Ranges Local Board. Work near protected bush is done sympathetically, and anything needing a consent runs through the council’s process. We handle that side as part of the job.

Coming To You

Getting to You in Titirangi

We come to you. From our Waitākere base we head out along Waitākere Road and Candia Road, over the ranges and down into Titirangi. It’s roughly 18 km and about 24 minutes in normal traffic.

From the village we can reach anywhere in the suburb: the bush streets toward Woodlands Park, the homes down at French Bay and Titirangi Beach, and the properties along the Scenic Drive ridge.

Titirangi is a regular part of our week, not a once-in-a-while trip. Give us the address, even if it’s down a steep drive with the house out of sight, and we’ll be there, van loaded and ready to work.

TITIRANGI ELECTRICIAN FAQs

Can you run power to a house set below the road or down a long bush drive?

Yes, that’s standard out here. Long, steep runs need the cable sized and protected for the distance so there’s no voltage drop or hazard, and we do the same for sub-mains out to a studio, sleepout or pump. Access just takes a bit of planning.

My older Titirangi bush home still has its original switchboard. Does it need replacing?

Often, yes. A lot of the mid-century homes up here still run boards with rewireable fuses that can’t take a modern safety switch and struggle with today’s appliances. We’ll inspect it and tell you honestly whether it needs a full upgrade or just attention.

Will deck and outdoor lighting survive the bush damp and the salt off the harbour?

It will if it’s done right. We use weatherproof, corrosion-resistant fittings on properly protected circuits, so your deck, steps and path lighting stands up to the damp and the salt air near French Bay rather than failing every year or two.

Can you install an EV charger on a steep section with an older board?

We can. We check the switchboard and supply can carry the load first, sort any upgrade needed, then place and run the charger to suit the section, even where the parking is a fair way from the board.

Which parts of Titirangi do you cover?

All of it. The village, French Bay and Titirangi Beach, the bush hillsides toward Woodlands Park, down toward Laingholm, the Glen Eden border, and the Scenic Drive ridge. If you’re not sure, just call and we’ll confirm.
